Success is perceivably the last thing to be discussed in this series of articles. But, theoretically, it is the first thing that every mind will conceive way before the planning phase commences. Usually, almost the whole thinking process is based upon the “what if I fail” principle. In such scenarios, important facets of planning such as the “how to” are usually undermined. That has become so common to an extent of being called a “natural phenomenon”, believed to be a work of human consciousness, yet, what had been discovered as instinctive thoughts had led to generational failures in individuals, communities, and nations at large. In practice, success is the last experience from an anticipated or unanticipated battle which ends in favour of the warrior, it is usually a next stepping stone to the next battle and consequently another success; which explains why successful people always become successful – the rich always get richer, whilst, on another hand the coward poor never dare to engage in the first battle of their life (just like a choice to remain in the house of hunger).
Making decisions and the entire planning process has a very relevant and mighty bearing on success and the way these processes are conducted and emphasized determines the amount of energy required to achieve a certain proportion or degree of success. In other words, this article is going to be a summary of all the previously published articles under the banner of “DESTINATION UNKNOWN”. In this article, we are considering a person who is deciding to leave the house of hunger and wants to get rid of the ambiguity of an unknown destiny, a person who knows and understands that his destiny has a purpose and that whatever is screening him from it is only providing a challenge. We will, again, together explore the traits and qualities of successful people.
PART A THREE KEY POINTS TO SUCCESS
Just, as usual, these three points are not exhaustive; they are simply an adaptation of my three previous articles – a detailed summary.
MAKE DECISIONS BASED ON WHERE YOU WANT TO BE.
You are currently in a situation in which you don’t want to be. In my terms, you are living in the house of hunger, but, you are so fed up of the nasty environment surrounding this place. You want to leave, but, since you grew up in the house of hunger and it has been like a generational curse inherited from your ancestors, you don’t have anything that belongs to you and the people who are surrounding you are consistently telling you that it has to be that way – you have nowhere to go. Basically, this is how it looks, but as long as you are determined, now is the time to move towards destiny. You have somewhere to go!
The only missing thing in the whole maze surrounding your exodus from the house of hunger is your dedication to ‘leave” instantly. The Bible states in Jeremiah that God’s plans for you are linked with your prosperity. This is ultimately where you should want to be and to achieve that, the day is today.
Additionally, if you are working, you may need to save each and every cent from your salary and possibly spend only after saving not the other way round. While it does not require a lifetime of savings to start an appreciable business, it can be realized that the most difficult part is to live according to your standards. It is best to start from the ground and elevate yourself as time rewards you, rather than starting from the topmost when that life is beyond what you are worth. Sometimes economic principles cannot just be defined, Maslow described the levels of human needs and requirements in a hierarchical structure with an assumption that no one can necessarily skip the stages. I have incorporated the pyramid in this article for a vivid picture:

The first stage is covered by physiological factors which we popularly call basic needs which are physical requirements for human survival. The last stage is self-actualization; a point where the full potential of a person can be recognized and the person has reached his final destination. This is where we want to be, but, to be there, we have to attain successes in attaining safety, love, and esteem. These are individual successes, aimed at building an ultimate success. However, the major problem with ordinary people in the house of hunger is that they want to miraculously emerge in the esteemed stage when they haven’t even attained personal security or financial security which constitute the second stage from the bottom. Some people have a problem of replicating the same formula which had unlocked the level they are in just because they are afraid to add more, but still, complain that they work hard and get no change.
If you are not working, you don’t need to despair, there is a concept known as innovation in which a simple investment can bring life changing results. Innovation entails everything from originality to creativity. The good part about innovation is you can start from basically nothing to something depending on how persistent and determined you are. An innovative person rarely fails in his or her quest because that person will be doing what he knows best. So, what are you waiting for? Just start with what you have and build your own future.
DO NOT GIVE UP.
In the journey to meet your future, failure is the most common thing. But, failure should not be a limiting fact but a criterion to draw alternate workable solutions and explore further. There is no failure greater than giving up. Some failures are put in life just to tempt the seriousness we are in our quests.
As discussed in DESTINATION UNKNOWN 1, things can, and will definitely go wrong in life. That means since the going wrong of things is common we don’t have to dwell much upon it. Focus and emphasis should be aimed at the goals, which is where our success is to be found. The tougher the going, the tougher you should be. Either you or the challenge should give up, but since it is your fight, I don’t think you can be at peace with your enemy winning. You may be a man of peace but giving up on your destiny makes you more of a sinner than a peaceful person.
We are in a very constant battle against our situations, while you see yourself alone in that arena, elsewhere, someone is entangled in the same web and these statistics are rising exponentially by day as by night. This is because people actually needing to achieve self-actualization in life are nearly equal to people who are taking the wrong path thereby falling never to rise again.
Faith is the substance or assurance of thingS hoped for. Your hope is to reach the topmost section of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, and you can reach that position if you tell yourself that you will reach it. Hope plays an extraordinary role in shaping ourselves, it is this same faith that has seen multitudes saved from diversities of dark principalities by pastors. It is this same faith that makes us set alarms to wake up tomorrow when we don’t know whether there will be tomorrow. Faith is the principle that keeps almost everything on earth in balance, we all believe that things will work for us. Anticipation is a child of faith and through this, we are able to plan for more than a day.
Faith now encompasses everything from believing that you can do it, your friend can do it and your nation can do it up to “everything is possible”. No one has lived “tomorrow” when it is still today, so, it is worth it taking a decision to live a better today when tomorrow finally arrives.
People who believe in their capabilities, capacities, and destinies do possess a high chance of faring well in life. I do believe that you, the person reading this article, has a very brilliant destiny to unlock. I also believe that the future of everyone surrounding you, including my very future, is intertwined with yours especially if you have a choice to move from the house of hunger now. You have to believe that the house of hunger is nothing but your psychological makeup developed by fear and negative traditions. The sun is actually shining outside and you can make it to that sunshine!
PART B KEY TRAITS OF SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE
Now, successful people have a lot in common. Besides the fact that they like a formality as highlighted by Strive Masiiwa, who noted in one of his articles that; the person who drove him into business was always formal no matter how minute an occasion was, we have three distinct qualities or traits which are noticeable on every successful dude we know.
THEY VALUE TIME
Successful people understand the value of time. It is they who said that time varies directly proportional with money. The best you use your time, the best the results, and; the more the time you utilize, the best the results. The combination of using more time the best way is what bears the best results seen by everyone. However, it should be noted that using the time to your best does not mean not making mistakes, you make mistakes but because you are using a lot of time you are able to recover before people even notice. By using more time, they do not defy the natural order which includes making mistakes, they only recover fast and hasten the amendment. So, next time when you are sleeping ten hours, remember that your next door who is always successful is awake for nearly half the time you are in slumber seeing fake images(dreams).
On valuing time, people who are usually successful are very punctual. If you make an appointment with him to meet at ten o’clock, be sure to be there maybe five minutes before all he may call you announcing a cancellation.
‘Now’ is one word that describes the value of time. When you are thinking that everything should have been done by now, then know that you bear a mind of a successful person.
THEY ARE QUICK TO IMPLEMENT
Since the value of their time is second to nothing else, implementation of a new idea, principle or concept is done like yesterday. If you tell a successful person an idea that will possibly enlarge his territories, he won’t wait until someone else does it. You may be surprised to notice that even before you have finished telling him, the development will be underway.
In short, successful people do not usually say ‘one day I will’, they just say ‘day one’. The more the time you spend in the house of hunger waiting for certain conditions, the less likely that you will feel at home and never leave, but the legacy you will leave for your children…God forbid!
THEY ARE ABLE TO TAKE ACTION EVEN WHEN THEY FEEL UNCERTAIN
Tony Robins once said, “success is determined by the amount of uncertainty one can handle comfortably”. If you are not able to act because just because your destination is unknown, my friend, now is the time to change that attitude towards life. You have to go on even when you cannot think of where to go.
Faith plays a paramount role when it comes to acting in uncertainty. You have to believe in yourself and believe in God that he has a prosperous future set for you. You should not wait until things become certain. There is no waiting for the right time for the right time is at hand.
By using these key points and adopting the right traits, our exodus from the house of hunger becomes not only imminent but also possible.
